Rumours were abound this week of a romantic involvement between Calle 13 front man ‘Residente’ (Ren Prez) and our very own Denise. Both parties have dismissed the rumours, stating that they are merely just friends, but this hasn’t stopped news reaching the desks of two online publications. Vocero reports that the two have been seen stepping out on several occasions now to public events, while Primera Hora expands upon this stating that the two have been seen at a number of events including a gay pride festival, and more recently the shooting of the latest Calle 13 video featuring artist Nelly Furtado. While the rumors will always surface the more the two are seen together, we do not have any sort of confirmation yet other than what the newspapers have reported; Denise and Ren are currently good friends and nothing more.

Be sure to pick up the latest Wizard Magazine and check the letters to the editor’s section. There is a letter there suggesting that Denise be cast as Wonder Woman in the upcoming Wonder Woman movie. The letter and response also includes an image of Denise…apparently Wizard agrees with the suggestion!
Here is a transcription by Craig of the letter and response from Wizard’s Editor:
Dear Wizard,
After hearing so many suggestions for who should play Wonder Woman in the movie, I’ve finally seen her. The problem is, I don’t know her name as I missed it twice in the credits of both Smallville and the comedy, Freddie. I know she played the Angel of Vengeance on Smallville, and she was the most beautiful replica of Diana Prince (Lynda Carter) that I’d ever seen. Please help! Find out what her name is and pass it on to whoever is in charge of this final decision!
DAVE
Quebec, Canada
PS: If this is not possible, then I agree with your choice of fellow Canadian, Rachel Bilson (The O.C.) Go Canada!

Wizard’s response:
You got as far as the credits watching Freddie? Brave man, Dave. I get a ton of mail telling me who should play Joss Whedon’s Wonder Woman (which reminds me, it won’t be “that Nanny McPhee lady”, so cut it out, hooligans). However, this is one of the few times I wholeheartedly agree! Drum roll: Her name is Denise Quiones, and not only has she already starred alongside Superman, but she was also cast as Aquaman’s love interest in the now-sunk Mercy Reef pilot for the CW Network! You’ll have to see that one in the bootlegs, though. Plus, this Puerto Rican goddess was Miss Universe 2001, so who better to play a heroic ambassador in the DC Universe?
Order your copy of the magazine through Wizard’s Website or pick it up from your local news stand or bookstore.

Going to New York this week? Jorge Morales gives his suggestions as to some key theater productions to try to see while you’re there.
Among his list he explicitly calls out Denise in a section subtitled Miss Universe. Here is the blurb for that section:
Denise Quiones, who won the pageant in 2001, played a compelling tragic heroine last fall in Repertorio Espaol’s Doa Rosita the Spinster. Here she co-stars with exAltar Boy Ryan Duncan in Hermanas, a comedy about Jewish Mexican Americans in Texas. Monica Yudovich’s script was a finalist in Repertorio’s Nuestras Voces playwriting competition.
