About Denise Quinones

Considered one of the “50 Most Beautiful”
by People en Espanol, former Miss Universe Denise Quinones is
a stage, television and film actress as well as a professional dancer
and singer.   This January, Denise is scheduled to shoot “Party
Time
,” an independent film set in her homeland, Puerto Rico. Last
year, Denise appeared in shows on ABC, CBS and The
WB
networks.  Denise had a five-episode arc on the ABC

comedy series Freddie
where she played Freddie Prinze Jr. love interest.  In addition,
Denise portrayed a super hero on The WB’s Smallville
and appeared in the CBS comedy series Love Monkey. 

Also, Denise had a recurring role in The WB series, Bedford
Diaries
written by Tom Fontana.  Also in 2006, Denise was
the lead female series regular in The CW pilot “Mercy Reef”
based on the Aquaman comic book series.  

This year, Denise has been nominated
a second time an ACE Award (Hispanic version of the Tonys) for
her performance in the Off-Broadway play Zanahorias.  

In 2006, Denise also received raved reviews by the NY Times for her
lead performance in the classical play, “Dona Rosita la soltera”
at New York City’s Repertorio Espanol Theater.   Last year,
she created the role of Marela in the New York world premier of “Ana
en el trópico,
the Spanish-language version of the
Pulitzer Prize-winning play “Anna in the Tropics”
by Nilo Cruz.  Denise’s outstanding performance
won her significant Anglo and Hispanic press accolades and as result,
received an ACE Award as “New Female Revelation of 2005″. 

In 2004, Denise participated in the workshop of the “Mambo Kings”
–a musical based on the award-winning book and popular movie with
Antonio Banderas.
 

Denise Quinoñes was crowned Miss
Universe
in 2001 –the first Puerto Rican to win the contest on
her homeland.  She also won the prestigious Most Photogenic

award at the pageant.  During her yearlong reign, Denise traveled
the world as a goodwill ambassador in the fight against HIV/AIDS. This
year, Denise became the spokesperson for LA Fitness thanks to
her commitment to Health. Denise has had extensive training as a dancer
and singer, studied Journalism and Communications at the University
of Puerto Rico and has trained as an actress in New York City. 

Denise currently lives in New York City
where she continues her modeling, acting, dancing and singing career.
