Wednesday, December 31st, 1969

Denise has been nominated for her role as “Madame of the Sacred Heart” in her latest theater endeavor, “Zanahorias (Carrots)” in the “Best Female Performance” category.

Denise has previously been nominated two times before for this Award for participation in “Ana in the Tropics” (won) and “Doa Rosita.”

When discussing her role as the mischievous Madame who got kicks from playing mind games on the townsfolk, Denise told El Nuevo Dia “I am happy. I had the opportunity to explore all areas and do something I’ve never done before, because my previous characters were very simple and innocent.” (translated)

On May 23rd, the Latino Commission on AIDS will be holding an event at the Cipriani on Wallstreet named “Cielo Latino“. The event is raising money for AIDS education and awareness. Denise will be attending the event to present an award, among many other famous Latinos Lupe Ontiveros, Natalie Morales, Jean Fonsi, and many more.

We’ll find out more information soon regarding exactly which award Denise will be presenting, as well as give you some special promotional images for the event.

This year’s “Cielo Latino” features a new contributor as a producer and creative Director for the first segment of the printed program, who is none other than our already familiar Karlo! If you’d like to attend the event, please be sure to check out the Cielo Latino website to find out how to get tickets and participate.

Be sure to check back over the next several days as we bring you more information regarding this event and Denise’s participation.

What else is going on?
In other news, Denise is featured in a book titled Mama: Latina Daughters Celebrate Their Mothers, which was published in 2004, is still available for purchase. Given the “Mother’s Day” holiday, we figured it would be nice to post about it. Its not to late to get your mother a present!

As far as Denise’s current doings, other than the NY event mentioned above, she’s still in LA working on her acting career. When we know more information, we’ll be sure to pass it on.
