Miss Universe 2001 5-Year Anniversary

Today, May 11, 2006 marks the five-year anniversary since Denise Qui�ones was crowned Miss Universe in Puerto Rico. Her crowning marked a landmark event as she was the first woman to recieve the crown in her homeland, outside of the United States. This 2001 event also marked the 50th Anniversary for the Scholarship Program.

From all of the fans around the world, we’d like to extend a big “Congratulations” to Denise on this five-year anniversary. Thank you for continueing to be as graceful as you were when you first won your crown.

Denise Attends Beauty Guide Party

On April 18, in New York City, Fourteen former Miss Universe winners joined Donald Trump and the current Miss USA contestants at the Launching of a new book written by Cara Birnbaum, called Universal Beauty : The MISS UNIVERSE Guide to Beauty.

Denise to present award at “Cielo Latino”

On May 23rd, the Latino Commission on AIDS will be holding an event at the Cipriani on Wallstreet named “Cielo Latino“. The event is raising money for AIDS education and awareness. Denise will be attending the event to present an award, among many other famous Latinos Lupe Ontiveros, Natalie Morales, Jean Fonsi, and many more.

We’ll find out more information soon regarding exactly which award Denise will be presenting, as well as give you some special promotional images for the event.

This year’s “Cielo Latino” features a new contributor as a producer and creative Director for the first segment of the printed program, who is none other than our already familiar Karlo! What else is going on?
In other news, Denise is featured in a book titled Mama: Latina Daughters Celebrate Their Mothers, which was published in 2004, is still available for purchase. Given the “Mother’s Day” holiday, we figured it would be nice to post about it. Its not to late to get your mother a present!

As far as Denise’s current doings, other than the NY event mentioned above, she’s still in LA working on her acting career. When we know more information, we’ll be sure to pass it on.
