Denise Featured in Latest Smallville Magazine!!

Wednesday, December 31st, 1969

Denise is featured very predominately in the latest Smallville Magazine #15 just now hitting the stands. This is the magazine’s annual yearbook issue which covers the season in review and a myriad of topics including the Guest Stars of Season 5. There is a five-page feature including new images of Denise and a long interview. Here is an except from the magazine regarding Denise’s feelings on her Smallville character, Andrea:

“First of all, she’s a superhero. How many times do you get to play such a character? She has powers and she has a very dark past. I think inside she was very lost, sad, and lonely, which is why I really fell in love with the character.”

Vocero Interviews Denise

Wednesday, December 31st, 1969

Back in May, Puerto Rico’s “El Vocero” caught up with Denise during a visit back home after filming Aquaman. This interview was performed prior to the announcement that Aquaman would not be picked up. Denise was back home visiting her parents, and attending a Calle 13 concert.

The interview talks of the filming of Aquaman, life in New York, and politics of Puerto Rico.

I know, this is sort of late, but people don’t seem to send me news on the Spanish side of things, and I don’t know which sites to monitor to keep up with the news.

Quick note: If anyone happens to see an article about Denise in El Vocero or other periodicals, please please email me the link so I can post about it! Thanks!

New Article on Denise in El Volcero!

Wednesday, December 31st, 1969

El Vocero de Puerto Rico, a newspaper publication in Puerto Rico, was able to catch up with Denise’s father and manager, Hector Quiones, recently to talk about Aquaman, her off-broadway play and its recent move to Texas, and they even dabble a bit into her personal life.

He optimistically expresses that as one door closes, another window opens, referring to the canned production of Aquaman versus the success of her current theatre endeavor, “Doa Rosita la soltera“.

“Doa Rosita la soltera” is going to Texas and, according to the article, is also being considered to be added on as a broadway production possibly by the end of the year.

Seior Quiones also commented that the decision to commit “Doa” to broadway would be a huge commitment for Denise and has to be considered heavily. If she choose to stay with the theatre company for through this production’s stint on Broadway, she would not be able to commit to any other projects for at least 6 months to a year, including music and film/television.

The article continues as the interviewer presses on about Denise’s personal life, asking her parents about a supposed romantic relationship between herself and band-member, Ren Perez Joglar, from Calle 13. They respond by stating that the two are friends and nothing more.

A little editorial comment from the admin here: Selfishly, we hope whatever she does, will bring us lots of news and lots of pictures. We’re definately sorry the Aquaman project didn’t launch, but we have enough faith in the talent of Denise to know that no matter what she does, she’ll be successful. Alright, that’s all the rambling from Tabby.

Special thanks to Josu for emailing us this news! Gracias, Josu!!!

Denise Mention in “Village Voice”

Going to New York this week? Jorge Morales gives his suggestions as to some key theater productions to try to see while you’re there.

Among his list he explicitly calls out Denise in a section subtitled Miss Universe. Here is the blurb for that section:

Denise Quiones, who won the pageant in 2001, played a compelling tragic heroine last fall in Repertorio Espaol’s Doa Rosita the Spinster. Here she co-stars with exAltar Boy Ryan Duncan in Hermanas, a comedy about Jewish Mexican Americans in Texas. Monica Yudovich’s script was a finalist in Repertorio’s Nuestras Voces playwriting competition.
