The New York Times briefly mentioned Denise today in their online publication in their theater section which discusses “Shows That Are Making Noise Amid the Crowd”. Writer Campell Robertson discusses several shows including a few from the Fringe Festival including “‘Hermanas,’ a comedy about Jewish Mexican-American sisters featuring Denise Quiones, Miss Universe 2001.”
While this is really the shortest mention we’ve read so far, its pretty dang cool to read it in the New York Times! Congrats, Denise, for making noise!

Denise Quiones will be the star of the upcoming Off-Broadway show ‘Zanahorias (Carrots)’, a comedy by Spanish playwright Antonio Zancada, and directed by Alfredo Galvn. The show is scheduled to open on November 22nd at The Duke of 42nd Street Theater, right in the heart of Broadway, for a limited engagement of 3 weeks.
Denise will be leading a cast of great performers, playing Madame of the Sacred Heart, a mysterious woman with a thirst for revenge and a gift for manipulation. The character has the elegance and fragility Denise so well portrays onstage, but this time we are talking about a hurt woman that knows how to use her power and wit to rebel against those who have hurt her.
We also hear that Denise is very excited about this role, which is said to set a turning point in her career as a performer.

Denise has been nominated for her role as “Madame of the Sacred Heart” in her latest theater endeavor, “Zanahorias (Carrots)” in the “Best Female Performance” category.
Denise has previously been nominated two times before for this Award for participation in “Ana in the Tropics” (won) and “Doa Rosita.”
When discussing her role as the mischievous Madame who got kicks from playing mind games on the townsfolk, Denise told El Nuevo Dia “I am happy. I had the opportunity to explore all areas and do something I’ve never done before, because my previous characters were very simple and innocent.” (translated)
